Pledging ΣAE

Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) is a Fraternity of true gentlemen at Texas State University. The fraternity prides itself on separating from other men by holding themselves to the highest standards of propriety and chivalry on a daily basis.

Members of SAE strive to maintain the moral fiber, strong character, and honesty that the fraternity values. When recruiting new members, SAE looks for individuals who share the same ideals and beleifs of 'The True Gentleman'.

One of the main objectives in recruiting new pledges is seeking individuals that wish to contribute to a cause bigger than themselves.

“From right off the bat,” said Andrew Bundy, pledge class of fall 2011 and risk manager. “Every member I talked to was sincere and wholehearted about what they had to say about SAE.”

“I got to know everyone in my pledge class really well and got to make some lifelong friends.” said Bundy.

As education is also very important, SAE seeks hard-working individuals with a motivated work ethic. The Fraternity believes that hard work is essential both in and out of the classroom. The Fraternity currently holds the second highest GPA of all fraternities on campus.
According to the Fraternity's charter packet, service is the heart of the concept by understanding the value of service to the university, to the fraternity, and to the community, SAE improves not only their image but their very core.

“Basically all the guys were really down to earth and it was something bigger than myself meeting everybody in the fraternity,” said Brandon Dullye, SAE member. “It was really strong.”

Each fall and spring Sigma Alpha Epsilon holds formal rush times. SAE's objective is to give equal consideration to as many prospects as possible. By doing this, the Fraternity becomes more able to sustain one of their main rush philosophies: “recruit quantity; select quality.”

With the new chapter at Texas State University, Sigma Alpha Epsilon will be able to take in larger pledge classes, anywhere from 20 to 30 rushees a semester. Next semester, the Fraternity looks forward to the biggest pledge class since the colony started.
